Greater flexibility to reduce capital and operational costs along with rapid innovation for new revenue opportunities is transforming networking and service delivery.  New skill sets and tools are needed to make the most of these new technologies and to achieve a vendor neutral supply chain.  ‘SDN/NFV Application Development Platform and Stack (SNAPS) helps drive this transformation by providing a standardized open platform to accelerate R&D and innovation.

Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) are the future of networking. SDN allows the network to be programmatically configured; NFV decouples network functions such as load balancing, profile management, and routing from proprietary hardware so they can be run in software.  Taken together, SDN and NFV allow operators to realize benefits from the transition to software and the use of general-purpose devices.
